Mostafa Salameh is one of only 20 people to climb the Seven Summits and reach the South Pole and the North Pole - known as the ‘Explorers Grand Slam’ and skied Greenland from north to south.

90 بالمائة من أهل الجبال في العالم يعيشون في دول نامية، ومعظمهم دون خط الفقر، حيث يعاني ثلثهم تماماً من انعدام الأمن الغذائي، ولا يجد الواحد منهم قوت يومه. هذا على الرغم من التراث الثقافي الهائل والمهارات البدنية لسكان الجبال الأصليين، وإن تجربت
90 بالمائة من أهل الجبال في العالم يعيشون في دول نامية، ومعظمهم دون خط الفقر، حيث يعاني ثلثهم تماماً من انعدام الأمن الغذائي، ولا يجد الواحد منهم قوت يومه. هذا على الرغم من التراث الثقافي الهائل والمهارات البدنية لسكان الجبال الأصليين، وإن تجربتي التي عشتها مع قبائل الشيربا في التيبت، وكذلك ما كتبه كثيرون غيري من متسلقين الجبال عن الشيربا تبين كلها كيف أنهم أناس أطياب، متواضعون، ودودون، ونشطاء، ويحبون العمل، يقنعون بأي عائد مالي قد يجنونه من عملهم الشاق جداً. هذه الحقائق تجعل الجبال مجالاً خصباً لعلماء الإقتصاد والإجتماع والطاقة، والباحثين عن فرص استثمارية على الأرض، وليس في البورصات أوفي ملفات دراسات الجدوى الإقتصادية، ففي الجبال فرص هائلة لدعم وإنشاء المشاريع المتوسطة والصغيرة لإنتاج الأغذية العضوية، وكثير من المنتجات المهمة مثل العسل والتوابل غالية الثمن، ومواد التجميل العضوية والأدوية الشعبية، والمنتجات الحرفية اليدوية. صحيح أن المجتمعات المحلية في دول مثل فيتنام تعمل بجد وهمة عالية لإنتاج هذه المحاصيل، ولكن معظم نساءهم يكتفين بتسويقها بكميات محدودة على جنبات الطرق مكتفيات بالدخل القليل الذي يتوفر لهن ولعائلاتهن، قانعات بذلك بشكل يفسر لنا كيف أن الشعب الفيتنامي أصبح من أكثر شعوب الأرض التي تنعم بهدوء البال (Peace of mind). ومع أننا بدأنا تشهد عرض مثل هذه المنتجات في المعارض الدولية مثل معرض دبي مثلاً، إلّا أن الطاقة الإنتاجية الكامنة في الجبال ولدى سكان الجبال، لم تتم الإستفادة منها على نطاق واسع حتى الآن. #رحلة_الصعود_والإرتقاء Photo credit @leonardoavezzanophoto

I’ve been able to take more than 500 people to the summit including heroes like Ali Sawalmeh on a wheelchair and Suhail al-Nashash. During these many trips, I was able to help raise more than 5 million US dollars for charity in support of several causes and humanitarian projects, including raising money for the King Hussein Cancer Centre. I think of all these achievements and feel proud while looking ahead to new summits and challenges, and to raising the flag of my country to flutter high every time. إن قابلية الإنسان لتطوير آليات تفكيره هي التي تجعل الإنسان مسؤولا عن قراراته التي تخص حياته  فالله لم يمنحنا حق الخيار بل زودنا أيضا بالآليات اللازمة لصنع القرار كي  نتحمل تبعاته فلا يلوم الإنسان في النهاية إلا نفسه و لا يلقى إلا ما صنعت يداه . تعلمت في الشرق أن على الإنسان أن يمد رجليه على قدر طول لحافه و لكني تعلمت في الغرب كيف يصنع الإنسان لحافا يناسب طوله. ليست العلة في سعة القماش بل في سعة العقل ومهارات الإنسان ليس لتحصيل لقمة العيش و إنما لأنه مأمور بالمشي في الأرض و اجتياز عوائقها كي يعلم غيره و يأتي بعده من يمشي على دربه .     #رحلة_الصعود_ولارتقاء
